Transformer oil is a mixture of liquid natural hydrocarbons which is purified, stable, low viscosity, good insulation and good cooling property by acid-base refining treatment of lubricating oil fraction in petroleum. The uses of transformer oil are as follows:
1, the oil in the transformer mainly plays the role of cooling and cooling when running.
2. Insulation and insulation maintenance for windings (maintain good insulation condition);
3. Transformer oil plays an arc suppression role at the contact point of high voltage lead wire and tap switch to prevent corona and arc discharge.
4. Transformer oil is widely used as a liquid seal in hydraulic safety valve.
What is the color of transformer oil?
A good transformer oil should be a clean and transparent liquid, free of sediments, suspended mechanical impurities and cotton flocs. If it is contaminated and oxidized, and produces resins and sediments, the transformer oil will deteriorate, gradually turning light red to dark brown liquids. When the transformer is out of order, it will change the color of the oil. In general, when the transformer oil is light brown, it should not be used any more. In addition, transformer oil can be characterized by turbidity, blackening and darkening. The oil of the transformer is cloudy and milky, indicating that the oil contains moisture. Dark oil color indicates the aging of transformer oil insulation. The oil is black and even smelly, indicating that there is a malfunction inside the transformer.
